The Girls From Alcyone II: Vengeance

This Week: It's another close call (and brush with death) for Sigrid. This snip takes place right after said melĂ©e.

"Your hair!" Suko said, touching the side of Sigrid's head.
Sigrid's own hand came up instinctively; she felt the spot where the sword had very nearly cleaved her head clean off. A large chunk of her hair had been carved out leaving a long shaven spot just above her ear. It was sticky with blood, the blade had come that close.
"I think this is what they mean by close shave," Suko said, examining Sigrid's new hair cut.
"Is it bad?"
"Don't worry. I'm sure Karen can fix it."
"Not my hair—the wound, you silly…"

A Secret Revealed - SciFi Fantasy Saturday

The Girls From Alcyone II: Vengeance

This Week: Let's face it, things were not looking good for Sigrid last week. Poor thing, we truly left her hanging, feet dangling in the air, deadly fist wrapped around her throat. Let's see how she's doing this week, shall we.

The woman reached forward with her other hand, one finger held out. Sigrid heard the snick and saw the needlelike appendage spring forth from the tip of her finger. Without warning, she jammed it into the PCM access port behind Sigrid's ear. The probe entered her with a sharp, stabbing deliberateness; pain came in shooting waves, coursing through her limbs. Immediately Sigrid was aware of the invasive programs worming their way into her network, tearing vital information from her database. Only the crushing grip on her throat kept her from crying out.

She had only seconds of life, but it mattered little. The probe had asked, and powerless, she had answered; Andraste, Alcyone, all of their secrets, Sigrid had given them freely, unable to stop herself.

"No…"

Side note: I'm running a free weekend for my first book 'The Girls...' on Amazon this weekend. Most of you are so cool you already have it. For the rest of you, be like the cool kids and go grab a copy!

A Sister's Secret - SciFi Fantasy Saturday

The Girls From Alcyone II: Vengeance

This Week: Sigrid encounters a new, and very deadly, foe (who could she be?). Nerd Note: PCM refers to Sigrid's Primary Control Module; basically a chain of cpu's that works to meld her biological systems with her bionics.

The warning flashed in Sigrid's PCM, the threat calculated, evasion prescribed. Sigrid slipped to the side as steel flashed in her periphery, the sword cutting dangerously close, nipping at her ear and slicing through the material of her suit. Her opponent wasn't done yet either, continuing her onslaught, the blade spinning, stabbing, reaching for Sigrid, carving whirlwinds in the air about her.

Sigrid dived backwards, her backflip taking her out of the path of the attack—a move anticipated perfectly by her opponent. Her boot caught Sigrid squarely in her sternum, knocking the wind from her with enough crushing force as to send her crashing into the wall behind her. Her attacker moved blazingly fast, slamming into Sigrid and pinning her against the bulkhead. Sigrid felt her feet leave the ground as the woman's hand gripped her throat. Her fingers were like steel cables, twisting and constricting, threatening to crush Sigrid's neck and remove her head from her shoulders right then and there.

For the first time in years, Sigrid panicked.

Juncos from Heaven - Sci-Fi Fantasy Saturday!

The Girls From Alcyone II: Vengeance

This Week: Last week's snippet was very mysterious (possibly too mysterious!). So less mystery this week. This week, more action, and more Juncos falling from the sky. But this time we see what they're falling toward.

Raising the binoculars, Captain Tomanek scanned the skies again. The incoming ships were closer now; he could just make out their silhouettes. "Juncos… Bloody antiques…" he muttered. They were dropping in from orbit, unpowered, all their systems switched off. Their tactics were one of desperation, but there was a method to their madness. None of Tomanek's automated defenses could be brought to bear on the fighters.

It didn't matter. It was madness. Tomanek grunted. The attackers were committed to their suicidal descent, unable to maneuver—or fire their weapons for that matter. He knew they would wait to the last minute before switching everything on. And when they did, Tomanek's men would destroy them.
Something nagged at Tomanek; those fighters had to have come from somewhere. He tapped the com-unit clipped to his ear. "Madison, where's our overwatch. They must have picked something up by now—"
The immense sonic boom caused Tomanek to jerk his head up.

Silly Side Notes: I was going to post a 'sexy' bit, but I chickened out. Maybe next week.
