The Girls From Alcyone II: Vengeance
For those not familiar with TGfA, here's the premise in a nutshell: Taken from her home as a young girl, Sigrid Novak is one of a select and highly trained group of genetically (and bionically) enhanced girls. Both hunted and coveted (as a military asset and scientific curiosity), Sigrid and her friends have fled the Federation to make a new life for themselves on a secret and distant planet (a secret that, perhaps, won't stay secret for long).

This Week: Fresh from an afternoon in the shops, the girls hit the pub for a refreshing beverage only to find themselves turning a few heads.

Sigrid could hardly blame all the attention they were getting on Leta alone. Her little group painted quite the picture; all of them sporting new outfits, their arms full of packages, shopping bags slung over their shoulders and hanging off their arms. Even Suko, who considered her collection of balisong knives to be sensible jewelry, sported a colorful new dress. It had taken much cajoling from Karen and Leta to get her into the thing. Suko still thought she looked ridiculous, but Sigrid thought she was marvelous.
"I still don't see how you can call this a dress," Suko said, tugging at the short hem. "I'm positive you pulled this off the shirt racks. Look—you can see my—"
"Well, of course—when you stand like that," Karen said, giving Suko her most patient of looks. "It's the style—trust me."
"Easy for you to say," Suko said, clearly not convinced, and pointing to Karen's new slacks. "You've still got your trews on."

This Week: Uh, oh. Looks like Sigrid's gone and gotten herself into another sticky situation. Will she ever learn? (Next week - Sigrid, Suko and Leta hit the shops and clubs of Crucis for a girls night out).

"You're alive!"

Sigrid sat up, and instantly regretted it. The confines of the grey cell swam in and out of focus. Grey permacrete walls, grey floor—if grey could be a smell it would perfectly describe the odor.

Mercifully all of her internal systems were functioning and worked to stabilize her, easing the vertigo and the pounding she felt between her ears. She reached back with a hand, feeling about the back of her head. At least the bleeding had stopped. The nano swarms had clearly been busy, working to cauterize the large gash. Sigrid struggled to remember; the terrible explosion, the shower of debris, the chunk of permacrete that had very nearly taken her head clean off.
Clearly, she'd been lucky. Lucky to be alive, at least.
But where in the blazes was she—and who was this woman…?
"You…!" Sigrid said.

Both hunted and coveted (as a military asset and scientific curiosity), Sigrid and her friends have fled fled the Federation to make a new life for themselves on a secret and distant planet (a secret that, perhaps, won't stay secret for long).

This Week - Prisoner: Sigrid awakens to find herself a prisoner of the Federation's Office of Naval Intelligence (oh no!).

Sigrid tried to lift her arm, tried to shield her eyes with her hand, only to find both her arms and her legs locked in metal restraints. Even her head was held in place, strapped down to the polished steel gurney.

Mercifully, her Primary Control Module was still online. Sigrid scanned her systems. Whatever had happened, she still had control. It took only a moment to reboot her neural net, reintegrate her various functions, scan her telemetry.

Stasis—they'd put her in bloody stasis.

She knew she'd been a fool, clumsy and careless. All the warning signs, so obvious now, flashed back in her mind; the alley, deserted and quiet, the sudden call to meet with the woman in green. She should never have let them take her; the fact that she had yet to make her escape only compounded her ill feelings toward herself. But her friends—her friends had escaped, and the location of New Alcyone was still secret.
For now, that was enough. It had to be.
